Wainwright was first seen in the show on Smosh the comedy channel on YouTube channel that debuted in 2012. She's guest-starred as a character in many films and television shows including Criminal Minds. In September 2016 her casting for the role of Maia Roberts on Freeform's fantasy show Shadowhunters which is based on The Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare was announced.
